Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Q. Do I need planning permission?

A. This very much depends on the local authority. We would always recommend that you consult with your local planning dept to avoid any issues.

Q. Is there much drilling?

A. Drilling may be required to mount units on walls and to mount the outdoor units on brackets.

We will always try and keep dust to a minimum and always tidy our work area.

Q. What does an install comprise of?

A. Typical installation comprises of an indoor unit connected by refrigeration grade copper pipe, to an outdoor unit.

At installation a hole large enough to accommodate 2 x pipes with insulation, cable, and condensate drain pipe or hose would need to be drilled.

We recommend that you commission a builder to prepare this and to make good that drilled hole upon completion.

Q. Is the pipework on display?

A. Where possible we will try and ‘hide’ pipework.  This may be in a suspended ceiling, or in a floor space / void.

Whilst we are able to ‘bury’ pipework into walls, a builder would need to be commissioned to chase out the walls.

Q. Do you provide the electrical work?

A. We are able to provide electrical work if required.

Q. What are the electrical requirements?

A. The electrical requirements depend greatly on the type of system used. Possible options would be :

connection to a fused spur.

Dedicated supply to the air conditioning system.

Where possible we would recommend installing a dedicated supply for the system

Q. How does water drain away ?

A. There are two ways in which the condensate can be drained from the indoor units.

1. Gravity drain. The use of pipe/ hose connected to an existing drain point such as a sink outlet

2. Use of a condensate pump. –  The pumps we install are very quiet and produce a ‘flutter’ for a second or so when pumping condensate.
